Abstract

TEACHER EDUCATION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY: SCHOOL PROJECTS AND LOCAL ENVIRONMENT This work shows the process and results obtained from my doctorate research, done at Geosciences Institute/Unicamp in 2006. The goals of this research were to investigate the development of scholar socio-environmental education projects, made during the program Continuous Education of Teachers, with the integrated use of remote sensing resources and field work on urban micro basins at the city of Guarulhos-SP. The aim of the school projects was to contribute to the formation of acting teachers-researchers, based on the analysis of teaching activities, on the building-up of new knowledge and on procedures to study the environment, taking into account the relations local/global at the analysis of the problems focused. When these projects incorporate social-environmental questions to the pedagogic practice, they aim to contribute to insert the school in the reality of the surroundings, considering it as the axis that structures the curriculum from the school
