O tempo em Geociências e o pulsar da Terra - reflexões sobre a região dos Campos Gerais do Paraná

Abstract

Understanding the time scale of geological and geomorphological phenomena is not achieved by nonspecialists. However, such comprehension becomes essential for the natural resources administration, risk management and evaluation of interactions among natural and artificial cycles. This text seeks to stimulate reflection about ongoing discussions in the Campos Gerais do Paraná region, which require the understanding of the role of time in Geosciences: age of the formation of natural shelters and archaeological sites, the risk of induced formation of new furnas (collapsed hollows in sandstones) and contamination of underground waters of the Furnas Aquifer.
